My First Music Class is a music program for parents/caregivers. The philosophy behind My First Music is to engage children and their family in quality musical experiences within a communal setting. Music is one of the most intuitive ways in which we communicate with our children. They are born music makers and we can learn so much about them and from them through their music making. Participants fully engage with all aspects of music making through singing, movement, instrument playing and chanting.

Keisha Hutchins Hirlinger

Founder, Keisha Hutchins Hirlinger, has been teaching Early Childhood music for over 10 years. Prior to coming to New York, Keisha led mommy-and-me music classes in Philadelphia, in addition to being a music educator for grades PreK-2nd. She also served as a Teaching Artist with the Philadelphia Orchestra for 3 years. An active performer, Keisha has performed throughout the Tri-State area both as a classical singer and singer-songwriter. Keisha recently earned her Master’s in Music and Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is also the proud mother of two lovely daughters of her own.

The Classes: My First Music Class is a 45-minute music class for young children, infants through age 5, with their parents/caregivers. We explore a variety of instrument sounds, sing, chant, dance and more. Classes can be tailored to the children who attend. Whether we have mixed age classes, or classes that are age specific, there is something for everyone.

Birthday Parties/Events

Hire our master teachers for your child’s birthday party, a children’s event, your next family reunion or adult event that needs children’s entertainment. Ask us about our weekly group classes Mom/Dad’s groups in your own home!

Group Sessions

Looking for something fun to do with your Mom/Dad or other group? We can provide weekly music classes for you and your group in your home on a weekly basis from 5-10 week sessions.
